Wannamaker County Park

Y'all know what a HUGE advocate I am of our Charleston County Parks.  I wanted to focus today and tell you about one of my favorites, Wannamaker County Park.  It's Charleston County's largest park having over 1,000 acres of land.  The park is just so fun!  It is not only kid friendly but also a dog haven and outdoor adventure for adults!

For the kiddos (and adult kiddos!) there is a wonderful water park consisting of two 65' high water slides that have near vertical turns and twists, the wave pool where you can splash in the shallow area or ride the waves in the deep end and run through the splash fountain. There are multiple playgrounds with slides, climbing ropes, all of your typical playground equipment.  If that doesn't wear the kids out, the family can enjoy disc golf, fishing and they have wonderful picnic/event areas where activities and events are held throughout the year.

For the pups, the park has a lot of large open grass areas that are separated for large dogs and small dogs and they just added a fun "dog only" water fountain play area!!!  This is truly pup heaven!  Afterwards, if need be, they have a very nice doggie wash area.

For families and adults to enjoy, the park offers a wonderful variety of outdoor activity all year round including paved and boardwalk trails to wooded forest trails where you can explore all of the wildlife of our area.  There's a beautiful lagoon to fish, go for bird watching walks and yes, you may see a gator or two!  The trails weave through woods full of pine trees, sweet gum and oaks and are great for hiking or trail bikes.

We live in an area of year round outdoor fun . . . . .  so get off the couch and enjoy our parks!  Check out Wannamaker Park if you haven't already.  It's located at:  8888 University Blvd in North Charleston.
